Summer Project '06

Yikes! It's been a LOOOOOOOONNNNGGGG time since the last post!
Well, I've been busy slaving away in the back yard. Here's some pics to show you how it's going.

We'll start off with a pic of the backyard just before we moved in last October.

Followed by a shot of the out building demo. (Now where will Wayne sleep?)

We brought in some top soil to help smooth out the ravaged area.

Next a "before" shot of the north side of the yard behind the new garage.

Ahhhh...the grass is starting to fill in nicely!

A shot of "Exile Island." That big foundation stone was in the middle of the yard when we moved in. I had the demo guy haul it over next to these trees for a little bench.

CRY HAMMOCK! This is my new favorite place in all the world.

Next, the new Fire-Pit. The Gravel & Boulders added up to 20 tons! All hauled down from the driveway by hand & wheelbarrow.

Now, a shot of the deck. It's "L" shaped and attached to the back of the garage. I still have to build the railing & beer shelf.

Finally, the little brick stoop & curb-stone walk. These nice pavers were recovered from around the old out-building and the curb stones were left in the driveway by the previous owner. Flipping these 300 pound slabs by myself sent me to the hospital with quite the tweeked back. I had Kenny & Chad help me finish off these beasts a couple days later.

Well, that's it so far. Thanks to Kenny & Chad, my brother Adam, and BIG thanks to my Father in law, Gary for helping out along the way.
