They sell these utility buckets at Lowe's for around 6 bucks and they kinda make great toddler pools!
Nothing to inflate, it fills up in about 3 minutes flat and the water seems to warm up in the sun fairly quickly as well.
Ivy loves it for a quick dip, and the gay Dad in me is loving the ease of use.

And also - and for serious - this is a really great idea! If the day comes when I have kids I am so glad that you guys and the Crookstons are slogging through it right now so that I can just KNOW all this stuff already!
So far I have learned:
1. always have camera handy
2. If you're going to blog, update frequently so that your friends don't get bored and have to force themselves to study or something
3. sometimes people get cranky
4. Utility bucket = pool
I think you turned gay when you purchased the pint-sized adirondacks with rainbow umbrella. Do you serve virgin daiquiries, too? Hmm, come to think of it, can I come over?
