Suburban Grim Reaper.

Felt guilty about not taking any new pics of Ivy. So the other day when we were out in the yard I made sure to grab the damn camera.

I've been doing small jobs around the yard all summer and It's shaping up pretty well.
A couple days ago, I chopped down a small, dead Black Walnut tree located in back near our property line. After chopping away at it for awhile with an axe, I started ranking it around to see if it would fall. It didn't, but the top half broke off ( I screamed like a woman ) and fell into some small trees. Apparently the tree had more rot than I thought. Ordinarily this wouldn't be a problem but the 12 foot section of tree was dangling precariously over my neighbor's van. I grabbed my trusty pole saw and walked around the block to my neighbor's house to see if I could get him to move his van, for safety's sake, while I dislodged the tree top.
I rang the bell.
No answer.
While I'm waiting for someone to come to the door I take a mental step back and look at the picture I'm currently occupying. I'm a sweaty, dirty, 6 foot stranger standing at someone's door, wearing gloves and carrying a 7 foot pole saw sporting a 17 inch curved, serrated blade.
Needless to say, no one came to the door.
I cut the tree top, bit by bit and removed it.
No harm, no foul.

Anyway, here's what yer here for... next time I'll have a story with Ivy actually in it. (I apologize for the outfit. She looks like she's ready to retire and start playing shuffle board.)

Or, perhaps you'll get a griping tale of "stump removal!"
